This is a rave review, and it’s coming to you raw. I’m writing while literally leaving the theater, my thoughts and feelings still fresh in the ol’ noggin!
This may be recency bias, but this movie was absolute cinema. Everything you loved about Minus One you’re going to love about this one. The monster scenes are terrifying, but also so epic that you can’t help but smile.
The human stories are just as moving and emotional as they were the first time around. Japan understands that you don’t have to have Godzilla on screen 24/7 to end up with an excellent Godzilla film. If you’re going to give us humanity, make the humans worth watching. They’ve done just that.
I swear, the care and mastery Japan employs when crafting these movies puts the American interpretations to shame.
